You bought a Laser, Now what?

You just bought a Laser and now what? I want you to know you are not alone, everyone just wants one of these cool tools. They have so many possibilities right?
If you are new here, I'm Steph and I have owned my laser for 7 years now. I was just like you once. I just knew if I owned this tool the sales would pour in. Well, I'm about to bust that wide open. It doesn't work like that and any legit laser owner will tell you the same. Here's why.
First, you need to learn your machine. Every machine is different they hold the power but if you don't hone in on the settings and knowledge it's just a paper weight. Learning your machine can be simple or it can be over whelming work. I'm going to say you need a niche, play with the machine, find out what you love to make, and what buyers are looking for in your area. This is key.
Second, dial in your settings and this can be as simple as a SVG digital Download file. You need to know settings, vary from machines to brands, no two are exactly alike. It might be close, but you will want to fine tune it. Doing this saves time, money and materials.
Next, join FB groups for your brand machine. Doing this you learn so much about the brand, the company, and settings. Many times if people make something they share their settings and this helps. Even if your brand has a library, you still can't skip this step. Remember what I said, NO TWO MACHINES AER ALIKE, well a library treats all machines the same. Figure this out quick, and make yourself a notebook because you never know when and update throws setting out the door.
Talk to other laser owner some even have local groups (next door app) that get together and help each other. If you don't have one, start one, you will meet them, and ask them to speak about things you need to learn.
Okay let's say you know your machine, now you must niche "NICHE" your business. What is a NICHE you ask? If you don't know you soon will, because, other small business owners you meet will ask you what your niche is. Simply said it is what you make.
So how do you find a NICHE? I wrote a article just yesterday discussing this and you can view that here.
Finally, I need to tell you that cleaning your machine, running maintenance, and watching your speed, will be one of the most important things to do. Most brands will not tell you this because if it breaks down they get your hard earned money. FUN FACT, I have been using the same machine, tube, and lenses for the entire 7 years. This is not common. But keeping your machine fine tuned is key. If you run full power your tube will not last long. Tubes are expensive to replace. So if your machine is taken care of, you will keep it running longer. Make a habit to clean daily before you use it. You will never regret this advise.
Well now you can take this information and get started. Don't fear it, just be careful.
See you next time,
Steph
